  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather-Pacquiao: Tickets Pricier Than Super Bowl

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao, scheduled for May 2nd, is expected to have the most expensive pay-per-view price tag - but even at $100 bucks the event will be significantly cheaper than a nosebleed seat at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

TiqIQ provided BoxingScene.com with several ticket price statistics from the secondary market (what ticket brokers will be asking).

Can somebody explain to me why people are even talking about these second-market tickets? They appeared immediately on websites like ticketliquidator.com after the fight was announced, and they're clearly just pre-emptive. The announcement for tickets (or if tickets will even be offered to the public) hasn't even been made yet.

It's as though any John Doe can start a website charging people a sexdecillion dollars for fictitious tickets, and the press/internet will jump on it and start reporting about it. These mean nothing until the actual tickets are released.

Though rooms havent soldout i have been offered a friends rental in Hawaii (Ka'napalli, maui) for one week + 100 for the fight.

The wife is leaving this decision up to me since I'm the boxing guy but I'm seriously considering the family over what seems like a very expensive weekend.

            What to do....

A lot of people in that arena are going to trash the sport of boxing after Mayweather beats Pacquiao in a boring UD. I see Pacquiao just jumping around not able to pull the trigger.

For $8k upper deck nosebleed you get to experience the following...

              -****ty undercard
              -boring casual fans
              -Mayweather brings out his clowns
-get to hear the Filipino song that top rank has ran to the ground.

I'll pass and watch it on TV. If I paid $8k for Gatti-Ward 1 type of fight I'm all for it but this fight is going to stink.

WTF is up with that ticket broker stuff?

Does anybody know how they pull getting most of tickets before they even go public?

Better yet WHY are they given the tickets before the public?

Without question. This is the biggest fight that could be made in the last 15-20 years. Bigger than Tyson-Lewis imo. Whether or not it lives up to the hype remains to be seen. It's going to be hard to live up to the hype, nearly improbable.

I'll be there to soak up the atmosphere & what not, but it looks like I won't be stepping one foot inside that arena...LOL
