For excitement, I would lean for Rios but him adding that weight to me would make him slower. However he will make Cotto look like a monster.
As far as a competitive fight, Bradley would be a better option. Bradley should come in light and be able to outbox cotto using his quickness.
Just isn't many options for Miguel at this point. Maybe he should fight angulo and.look like a monster so the canelo fight can take place in September.
Brook has a fight scheduled, right? Only person left that's a worthy opposition is Maidana. I hope they don't find another soft touch like Collazo for him. Kell, Thurman, Guerrero, Bradley, Garcia, Broner.. All these welterweight fights getting scheduled and he's just kinda waiting on the sideline waiting for the lottery. Just fight.
Starting to think that cotto should fight GGG in June at 155. If he loses he still has the canelo option in September. But if he wins or even looks good in a close loss, he'll still be the A.side.for.potential fights at 154.
This doesn't look too good for Cotto, but I agree with a couple of things that have been mentioned already. If he's going for a welterweight he should probably vacate. It just doesn't look good. I also like the idea of K9 with both titles on the line. I know K9 is not very well known but I feel he's a sellable opponent. The guy is very strong with a good punch and he looks the part.
Bradley and Rios are not that well known outside of the boxing community. Yes, they are more recognizable (because of their fights with Pac & Rios Mexican decent), but I feel K9 can be sold to the public as a legit opponent too, while keeping Cotto busy with a bigger opponent than the other two options.
Of course, the best option would be to just go straight to GGG since he's the best opponent available, but I don't see that happening. I don't think Cotto needs a tune up, even though Martinez was viewed as a tough fight, he's had about a year to rest, why go through another training camp for a fight he won't really get any credit?
