He's clearly a special fighter & it is going to take a very special fighter to beat him... Everything he does is so subtle, he's calculated, economical, precise, throw's power punches from weird angles, makes cutting the ring off into an art form all of itself! He doesn't give you an inch! One of the most complete fighters currently operating! Chin, heart, power, punch variety, stamina, ability to adapt, high ring IQ, ring generalship, cool under pressure, extremely calm & relaxed! Rarely even leaves first gear! It's clear to me he is on another level even to someone as good as Sergio Martinez (both Macklin & Murray have now said so & they should know!) All he really needs now is that signature win over a Cotto, Chavez, Alvarez or even a Froch... Lee, Lemieux & maybe even Jacobs would all add to an increasingly respectable MW resume too! He's obviously THE Middleweight of his generation & it is a privilege to watch him fight! Reminds me of a prime Tszyu! I think he has the highest KO ratio in 160lb history already too & his run of defenses is right up there too? Anyone know who has the most?
As for Murray i have mad respect for him, fights anyone anywhere & has a ton of heart! He's suffered a couple of injustices in his career & probably should have been lineal champion by rights... Good guy. Respectful, humble, doesn't ***** & kinda reminds me of Kessler in some ways! A tall upright european type fighter, high guard, nice one/two (doesn't have the same power or isn't quite as good though) but I think style wise the comparison is valid. I hope he continues fighting, no shame in that performance last night at all..
All in all I was very impressed again. I think Golovkin will unify the division in the next year or so & IMO we are following the career of an ATG MW in the making! All his peers & contemporaries seem to agree with this & I think it is about time the haters quit whining & learn to embrace him & just flat out deal with it! He's a credit to the sport..
