    Civil war in Eastern Ukraine between regular militaries and local guerillas (also known as “local militia”, “separatists” and/or “*********s” – depending on which party is describing them) continues to take its toll. It was been announced tonight that professional boxer Fedor Mushtranov, who fought against the Ukrainian government, was killed in action near a hot point of Debaltsevo, where melee continues despite an announced truce.

          It sounds like you need to learn the meaning of the term "civil war".

          Or if you prefer, it is a war between Ukraine and the Confederated States of Novorussia (consisting of the Peoples Republic of Lugansk and the People's Republic of Donetsk).
