Points should be deducted for excessive clinching.

Froch and Dawson were clean fights. Edwin started out ugly but Edwin was a dirty mofo himself. Once the ref got control it was a clean fight.

Golovkin had a 'soft' punching opponent, it's a hell of a lot easier to keep constant pressure on an opponent when you don't respect his power. Murray could box a bit but was rather ordinary when it came to punches being placed.

Sure, Golovkin looked ok in a fight that was specially set up for him to display his talent. Other than throwing a mean hook, with his elbow up, I didn't see much that would convince me that Golovkin could beat Ware.

Clinching, body shots and the disruption of GGG's work would work in his favor....
After last night though, we saw GGG will keep up said pressure the whole fight

Also note how Murray could get close enough to hold .. Ward is a master at the game

GGG would need to improve some skills to have a chance to beat Ward, and would need to train specifically for that fight, very intelligently.

That said, I think GGG's plan is to first win all the hardware at MW, and THEN move up. And Ward certainly wouldn't be his first SMW opponent. So there's time to improve.

I think GGG is shortish of stature for SMW and would really need to get his head moving and work more on defense to face Ward.

I agree with everyone who says GGG simply had no respect for Murray's power and wanted to show this, wanted to "fight", as he says. He's a street fighter at heart (GGG's entire life before fighting as an amateur) who enjoys putting his face out there and saying let's trade.

Yes the only person who beats him is a retired SMW! Why not throw Calzaghe in there too?! LOL Shut up you spastic... Ward is irrelevant these days! LOL Abraham had him playing posum & going into turtle mode! 3G is a stylistic nightmare for Ward, he can actually fight on the inside! All Ward does is clinch & headbutt there, Golovkin would have a field day! Won't happen anyway because Ward doesn't have any bargaining tools nowadays so he would have to give into Golovkins demands! I get that he has made you feel insecure but don't let Kovalev, Calzaghe, Golovkin type fighters threaten you! They are actually quite good & you should learn to embrace them instead of using fantasy scenarios as an emotional crutch!

                      Ward is irrelevant now.
