I stole this from another forum...
Why does Ted Atlas say he is former New York City Golden Gloves champ, when he is not?? And how does he keep getting away with it? No one from newspapers or boxing mags ever brings up that he is lying. For example, on one internet site, he gives interview, and says that year after Rooney won, he entered and won 135 pound title. I checked, and unless his name used to be Julio Hernandez, something funny is going on.
He is not listed as having fought in ANY New York City Golden Gloves tourny, 1975, 76, 77... If he is ever caught by an intervewer and questioned, will he say he was misquoted, or that he meant another New York tournament? He claims he won year after Rooney, and he specifies tournament. He's been doing this for a few years now
