There were hardly no reports about it. But those in the know, KNOW he was fired. It was a hush event. They let Merchant go and let him claim he 'retired.' Again, HBO gave him the axe after losing Mayweather to Showtime. And since that moment, you can only see Merchant working in broadcast through Sky Sports or through Top Rank.
