Top Rank has had cable deals before. NBC Sports, formally known as the Versus channel, was a Top Rank boxing deal. Problem was the cards ****** (besides the Tye Fields fights, of course).

Getting deals is cool and all. But it only matters IF the promoters are putting on good fights. So hopefully Top Rank steps up their game here but I'm not going to be too optimistic.

Dan Rafael mentions it in today's chat:

"I think TR has it's own TV deal in the works with a major cable network."
I think Top Rank already has or had a deal with a Spanish-language station. Seeing Top Rank fighters in mismatches is not my idea of great boxing.

Not if they have an ounce of intelligence.

I guess Haymon deals have motivated some people to "TRY HARDER"

This would be good for the sport and the fighters as well!

I'm assuming this new rumored deal would be on English speaking cable, and perhaps with Turner, like TNT or TBS.

I remember TNT dabbled in boxing years ago...Mosley fought on the network.

This might work if there wasn't so much sports programming on. I miss Tuesday night fights.

Why didn't they do this a decade ago..jeez

But i'm excited, and basic & major cable might mean the same...an established channel that everyone gets, here's hoping.
