Kazuto Ioka hope the second’s time a charm at becoming a three-division titlist.

The former strawweight and junior flyweight beltholder gets another chance at claiming flyweight hardware when Argentina’s Juan Carlos Reveco takes his act on the road for their title fight April 22 in Ioka’s hometown of Osaka, Japan.

Confirmation of the fight came from the World Boxing Association (WBA) who recognizes Reveco as its flyweight champion.

I'm an Ioka fan but have to admit his last few fights have been less than stellar. When he first burst on the scene, he was aggressive and exciting. But once he moved up in weight he has become increasingly cautious. He's a small guy and I think he feels the power of his opponents and has become more defensive. He needs to ramp it back up, throw his hands and stop waiting around. If he doesn't he will likely be disappointed again. I'm not sure if having his father be his trainer is the best thing for him since it seems he has been regressing. Maybe he needs to be adopted by Inoue's dad instead.

Reveco is a hellacious body puncher, a longtime belt holder (first won a jr. fly belt in 2007) and is just below the top level at flyweight, but he's going to have a hard time beating a hometown hero, like Ioka, at home. Good fight
