In an act of charitable kindness by Mike Tyson, the former two time heavyweight champ has contributed £5,000 to the Sharon Beshenivsky Fund after being touched by reports of her brutal murder. Beshenivsky, a 38 year old British police constable and mother of five, was shot to death as she investigated reports of a robbery at a travel agency last November in Bradford England. On the night of the shooting, Tyson was a featured guest speaker at a dinner in nearby Derbyshire. "Somebody has been killed in the line of duty while we were out at a dinner enjoying ourselves and I would like a donation from that night's proceeds going to the victim's family," Tyson told The Huddersfield Daily Examiner. The boxing legend was in Manchester this past weekend where he refereed a WFC (World Cage Fighting Championship) bout in MEN arena. Tyson is on another speaking engagement tour, and will travel to Leeds, Nottingham and then on to Dublin Ireland. In 2004, Tyson contributed $5,000 to Ring 8 so that Cuban fighter Kid Gavilan could receive a proper burial. Gavilan died in poverty in 2003 and was buried in an unmarked grave. The money that was raised allowed Gavilan's body to be removed from potters field and reburied with a headstone.
