One Championship to Rule Them All....

So, we all know what the alphabet soup of boxing is with the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF and how there is way too many titles in the sport. Right? So which championship do we recognize as the one that defines the true World Champion? I know of the transnational rankings that came together a few years back and that's a great help, but is that enough? Some people consider the holder of The Ring's belt to be the true champion, but can we considering it's a magazine owned by greedy promoters? So my question to you all is this: Which of the 4 sanctioning bodies should we recognize as boxings true World Championship, and why?

I guess this is the problem we face was fighters don't fight under the umbrella of an actual league like a UFC. I've always hated the promoter/manager way of handling fights. It allows for too much ducking and with the multiple sanctioning bodies the sport has become to championship littered. As fans of the sport it's time to come together and recognize one true World Championship.

The problem has already been solved.

It's been called "The Ring" champion and in my opinion even better, the "IBO" champion.

The IBO champion is particularly relevant in my opinion because by it's very definition it serves only to recognise the "REAL" champion AMONGST the major belt holders.

Multiple belts is a good thing really. It makes more money and is SUPPOSED to make for more intense competition among the top boxers but unfortunately sometimes leads to a monopolistic situation where the belts are purposely kept separate with diffierent mandatories (collusion).

The problem is, is that there is no FORCED UNIFICATION which would simply solve the issue.

MMA style Tournaments, in which the best are EXPECTED to participate, which are sanctioned for the belts necessarily.

Then, even as the belts get splintered, things are sorted out again pretty quickly

So are we assuming that the true champion in each divis is the champion notated on the Transnational Boxing Rankings website, or is there a sanctioning body who outranks all the others?

I usually consider someone holding the combination of the WBC and WBA titles to be the true World Champion in their division seeing as how those are the two belts that have been around the longest. I don't even recognize the WBO or IBF belts, same with all the Diamond belts and secondary WBA belts. Just the core WBC and WBA titles are recognized in my eyes. If som doesn't hold both the WBC and WBA belts than the undisputed title is officially disputed. Simple as that.

I am very strict in what championship belts make a champion, and while my opinions don't reflect others, its what I go with. I also don't recognize sub weight divisions like Super and Junior Middleweight, just Heavyweight, Middleweight, Welterweight, and Lightweight. I try to keep it as simple as possible.
