They wouldn't struggle that much but because they are dumb as fuck they will have to share date with Showtime and JCC Jr. the guy who is the son of a Mexican legend hence evey Mexican and Mexican-Amrican will watch his fight which won't be PPV this time. Have a good luck with that HBO!
And I say this while I prefer the HBO card and I will definitely choose that.
This is just a dumb business decision imo.

The ratings battle will definitely be interesting to watch.

JCC Jr. did some big ratings on HBO, so it'll be curious to see how he does transitioning to SHO.

He comes into the fight off a long layoff, which doesn't help, and he doesn't have the best opponent with Fonfara being a European fighter.

It also doesn't help that HBO has an anticipated fight opposite it that night.

But Chavez Jr. should pull in good ratings regardless of all that...the question is how will they compare ratings he did on HBO in the past (around 1.4 million for the two Vera fights), and with the ratings HBO gets with their double-header.

That's a good thing. If it's the war that it's predicted to be, they don't need to fight more than twice in a year. Depending how bad it is, they could probably afford to sit the rest of the year out to recoup.

Very nice card, but I don't understand a split venue. Oh well, I'm watching on TV, so it really doesn't matter, but I think it would be even better in one venue.

The soccer stadium where the LA Galaxy play and tennis stadium where they hold most boxing events (outside of DLH-Forbes) are separate.
