Why did HBO cover up the POWER PUNCH stat?

It would be interesting to know how exactly CompuBox works...

Here's a quick quote from the Feb 2004 issue of Ring Magazine, which explains the basics of it;

"It is a computer program, operated manually by two men, sitting side by side, sharing the same computer, with one operator assigned to each fighter. One uses the A-S-Z-X keys on the standard laptop keyboard; the other uses four keys on an accountant's keyboard plugged into the side of the computer. The keys correspond to the four statistics CompuBox tracks, and which appear on dozens of televised graphics each year; jab landed, jab missed, powerpunch landed, powerpunch missed."

Probably just a timing issue, because they didn't list jabs either.

But I have found out that Toney outlanded Rahman 215-159 in power punches.

it is hard to call those punches "power punches"; Rahman's jabs were stronger than Toney's "power punches"

I heard from somebody at the fight toney threw the harder cleaner and louder shots.....HBO is ridiculously biased progam that's why they fired roy for him always saying "and me, ima be honest witchu"

And none of them had any effect whatsoever. I was pulling for Toney in this fight, but he just doesn't have the power to hurt a real heavyweight. For him to KO someone at heavyweight he will need to drop about 20 lbs of fat so he can sustain a high output throughout the fight.
If had had any power whatsoever, he would have KO'd Rahman in 6 or less, and, sadly for Toney, effectiveness counts in punch stats and scoring.

That's not correct at all. They were power shots, and if they're landing flush and clearly, they are clean and effective shots.

Suggesting judges are supposed to weigh in on the impact the punch has on the fighter is not accurate. Outside of rare obvious effects, they have no idea what powershots hurt and to what extent.

The clean flush counter rights, upper cuts and inside shopping shots to the body were scoring power shots for Toney. Period.
