Comments Thread For: Grigory Drozd To Face Krysztof Wlodarczyk on May 22?

World Boxing Council cruiserweight champion Grigory Drozd of Russia could be defending his green and gold belt for the first time in a rematch against former cruiserweight champion, Krysztof ‘Diablo’ Wlodarczyk, on May 22nd in Moscow.

Drozd defeated Wlodarczyk in a classic battle last year, also in Moscow, snatching the WBC belt in the process. During that bout, Grigory landed the best punches. Constantly fighting at distance, he knocked down Krzysztof in the eighth round. The judges' scorecards were 118-109, 119-108 and 119-108, all in favor of Grigory. [Click Here To Read More]

If any division needs unification then it's 200Lb. Drozd/Huck makes far more sense!

What is "classic" about a one-sided fight? No need for a rematch. Silly that there are four decent belt-holders at cruiserweight who do little more than fight leftovers and won't fight each other. Example #645 why alphabet organizations and their paper title belts suck

Unreal. Was there a rematch clause? That's the only way this makes any sense and still, by the time the fight happens, it'll be 8 months since the first match. Yawn.
