Comments Thread For: Dirrell: No Matter Where I'll Face DeGale - I'll Win!

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is still trying to finalize a deal for James DeGale (20-1, 14KOs) to face Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16KOs) on April 25th in London.

The Internal Boxing Federation ordered the two super middleweights to face each other for the vacant IBF championship, after Carl Froch vacated the title to remove the incoming pressure to make a mandated defense against DeGale.

Dirrell appears to be leaning away from his position of not facing DeGale in the UK.

Interesting fight. I think De Gale can get a stoppage if we see anything like Dirrel's 12th round vs Edwards. I wouldn't come to the UK if I were Dirrel because an Olympic Gold champion isn't likely to lose on the scorecards.

The Froch-Dirrell decision was a terrible case of home cooking, Froch was shadow boxing most of that fight and got his legs stiffened too... If that Dirrell comes to fight then its gonna be a hard nights work for Degale, if not it could be pretty straight forward.

Yes: the infatigable Dirrell got robbed.
            It's time for revenge.

That was a domestic scrap where he was cast as the villain and Groves as the clean cut 'saint'. Now he's with Matchroom I'm sure Eddies going to have the judges in his back pocket. Dirrel has that amateurish pot shot style so he could definitely mix it with De Gale but based on recent performances I think De Gale edges it. If it happens in the UK expect the close and subjective rounds to go to the home fighter.

This would be a very interesting fight. I hope they get it done.

Dirrell isn't the same fighter he was in 2009. He's looked "meh" at best in his recent fights while Degale has been on a pretty good run but if Dirrell shows up on form he can take this.

Close fight that I give Degale the edge due to activity while Dirrell has had 21 month, 13 month, and 18 month layoffs.

Direll lost to Froch because he took his foot off the gas and wouldn't engage
in the championship rounds. Close fight but he lost.
