At the Multipurpose Center of Los Mochis, top rated Adrian Estrella scored a tenth round stoppage of Filipino contender Adones Aguelo to retain the International super featherweight championship of the World Boxing, and in turn showing his readiness to challenge for the full WBC super featherweight championship, currently held by Takashi Miura.
Estrella was landing heavy punches to the head and body, gradually breaking down his opponent. During the tenth round, the referee had seen enough and waved off the contest as Aguelo was taking too much punishment. With this victory, Adrian improved to 21-0 with 19 knockouts, while Aguelo dropped to 23-11-2 and 15 knockouts.
