  • Comments Thread For: Chavez: Froch is Better Foe Than Golovkin, Hopkins

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch is a better opponent than IBO/WBO/WBC interim-middleweight champion Gennady “GGG" Golovkin and 50-year-old legend Bernard Hopkins.

Chavez was in talks last year to face Golovkin, with the negotiations falling apart because the Mexican boxer was having legal issues with his promoter Top Rank. Chavez will return on April 18th against Polish light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara.

Well, that's because GGG would likely destroy a durable but hopelessly outgunned Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. So that won't work. Bhop is a risk that no one would forgive him losing to, a 50 year old. Not only is he 50 and has no belt, but will not bring the CA$H Froch would bring, not to mention his World Championship Belt.

GGG, too much of a beast.
Bhop, no belt or huge draw. Plus a dangerous fighter who could win even at age 50.
Froch, is a big draw and has a belt. Is beatable if Chavez Jr. can really focus and come in hungry. (His biggest career knock, thus far.)

Chavez is probably the most overrated fighter out.

Chavez. Jr. Should be ashamed of himself how he ducked ggg Last summer, and was so frightened he ran and signed with al haymon. I think he's in for a real suprise if he thinks he has a much better shot at beating froch. He may not even get past fonfara, what makes you think he would get past Carl froch? At least if he lost to ggg, but put up a real good fight he would earn a lot more respect than if he loses to Carl froch. He ducked ggg and ran to al haymon to fight easier fights. What a coward.

He's living off his fathers legacy, he's as average as it gets. He'll beat fonfara though because he'll weigh 200.

Well he's got to get past Fonfara and that might not be easy for him.

                  Yep.

It's a better fight, bigger money fight and more enticing style match than the others.
