yea lopez got up right away.. ref should assess a couple of factors before making a call like that... look into the eyes of the fighter, their body language, the way they react.
The fact he got up immediately...should have warranted a count.
But sadly, once he went down, the ref made his call..

Berto is entertaining but he was definitely getting classed by Lopez before he hurt him. He is a Spike TV level fighterHaymon ain't gonna sell the boxing people Berto again. We went through the Berto BAD years on HBO. We saw Soto-Karass kick his ass on Showtime.
I understand he's supporting his fighter but pushing people like Berto down people's throats is not a good way to start the new model.Comment

I think the ref did exactly that. Lopez was kinda slow getting up on the first one. He was shaky getting up, slow to walk forward, slow to raise his gloves, then got dropped on the next punch.yea lopez got up right away.. ref should assess a couple of factors before making a call like that... look into the eyes of the fighter, their body language, the way they react.

I mean, back when Berto was getting easy paydays, it was somewhat enjoyable seeing him exposed.
But nowadays.....it kinda feels weird watching him fight. He is so vulnerable, that chin so shaky, that defence so leaky, and he can't help but brawl.....they're just setting him up for another ass-kicking.Comment

I disagree. Lopez took the full 8, 9 seconds to gather himself which is fine. He put his gloves up right away when the ref requested.
He was obviously still hurt when he got knocked down again. But he should've gotten a count.Comment

it's dam clear nonetheless, Berto will not win a world title at welterweight.
Will he ever crack top 10 at welter? no.Comment
