Comments Thread For: Omar Figueroa-Ricky Burns on May 9, Says Manager

According to Alex Morrison, manager of former champion Ricky Burns, a deal has been reached for his fighter to face ex-WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa on May 9th in Texas. Burns (37-4-1, 11KOs) vs. Figueroa (24-0-1, 18KOs) is likely going to take place at junior welterweight or a catch-weight between 135 and 140-pounds.

Figueroa was last seen in the ring in August, when he retained his WBC title by knocking out Daniel Estrada in what was his final appearance as a lightweight.

Burns has zero chance in this fight. He's done. I think he'll get stopped and consequently retire.

I don't really see the point in them jumping in on a level he's really only fought at once or twice in his career after such a disappointing run of results - if not for a last payday.
