Comments Thread For: Team Murray: We're In No Lose Situation With Golovkin

Monte-Carlo, New York, Johannesburg -- Having spent time with MARTIN MURRAY in Johannesburg at the weekend, South African promoter RODNEY BERMAN says he expects a fierce contest when Murray and GENNADY GOLOVKIN square off in Monte Carlo for Golovkin’s WBA Super World middleweight, interim WBC World middleweight and IBO middleweight titles next weekend.

Berman’s Golden Gloves is promoting the Monte-Carlo “Thunderbolt” show in association with K2 Promotions and GGG Promotions.

Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) is on a record 18 consecutive knockouts and will be seeking another against Murray (29-1-1, 12 KOs), the highly-regarded WBC number one contender

I think Murray is quite tough.
I just hope that doesn't lead to bad things for him.

Sure, but Berman wouldn't even consider the very real possibility of GGG kayoing Murray, and that tells me that Berman is not only lying to us but to himself as well. I like Murray, but it will amaze and astound me if GGG does not stop Murray. Clean K.O.? Referee stop contest? Murray's corner throws in the towel? Promoter steps inside the ring ending the bout? One of these will be how the fight ends, and it will be Murray and not GGG who leaves the ring defeated.

Can't wait to see this guy vs an A side, when they put usada or had on his a.s..s. I just want to see if his power disappears like Matthyse when he faced Garcia. Just to be fair I do think Maidaina and Wilder have the most natural power in boxing, if that makes any sense.

Kinda wish this Murray would show up. But he wouldn't last 3 rounds fighting like this.

I've seen him noticeably hurt by Sturm, Martinez and Renda.

That doesn't bode well for him.

... Do you people even know who is owning Monte Carlo and the French Riviera?... lately?

I think Murray quits after 3-4 rounds if he's still standing. There's just nothing in his arsenal to keep him competitive with Golovkin. He's probably most similar to Adama, who's a big strong MW with a tight guard. But I think Adama hits harder and is more durable than Murray.

                    I'm still expecting we'll have Golovkin/Hopkins at 170lbs on May 16th.
