Comments Thread For: Paul Spadafora Added To Goossen Card on February 20

Pittsburgh, PA - Former world champion PAUL SPADAFORA has been added to "The Pride of Pittsburgh III" on Feb. 20th at CONSOL Energy Center, it was announced today by TOM BROWN of Goossen Promotions.

Sporting a record of 49-1-1 (19KO's), Spadafora will battle JAKE GIURICEO,

17-2-1 of Youngstown, Ohio (4KO's) in a scheduled eight round junior welterweight off-TV bout.

"We're very happy to add Paul in a "special attraction" bout to our Feb. 20 event," said Brown. "For many years he was among the most skilled fighters in the sport and his battle with Giuriceo, a very tough veteran, should be one of the highlights of the evening for the fans in attendance."

it is a shame Paul was highly skilled and avoided in his prime. He was sort of like a Winky Wright kind of fighter. He brought little to the table and was hard to deal with in the ring. he had a great defense and his south paw style made him awkward to fight.

Great, great talent, hated watching him, but his skills are undeniable. Mans's also a total piece of **** shooting his pregnant gf, that derailed possibly an Atg career.

Yes! Finally Paul is fighting again! He needs to have a good performance and show at 39 he still has something left. This man has put a lot of demons behind him and I know he still has a big fight left in him. Go Spaddy!

Glad to see Paul back in the ring. Like to see him get a win here and a decent fight/payday his next fight. He's been out there in Vegas training with Kenny and Shawn Porter. Word is they have kept Paul on a tight leash and he hasn't been able to screw up at all(fall off the wagon if you will). Word that I'm getting is that he's in top shape right now. Best shape he's been in since he had the title at 135. Let's go Paul!! One last run at a title shot. You've got enough left in the tank to do this!! One time for the fans who have been behind you since your career started. I've driven 7-8 hours countless times to see you fight and I'll be doing it again on the 20th!!

He really was. I don't know how high his ceiling was but it was a pleasure to watch him box. Moreso than Wright IMO, who was like a lefty Ike Quartey. Spadafora had legs for the full 12 and was so good at turning his opponents. He was also a real good inside fighter. Very impressive at his peak.

I don't think Paul Spadafora is a good person. That is just my personal opinion.

He could only fight who his promoter put in front of him. If you know the fight game then you know the fighter doesn't have a huge say in who he fights. He beat Manfredy in his prime. Showed he could slug it out in his draw vs Dorin. And say whatever you want, he was one of the best defensive fighters in his prime. Like him or not. He could stand in front of you and make you miss for 12 rounds. He was just mismanaged! I firmly believe in his prime he could have beaten anyone at 135.

Beaten no one of note. Nearly stopped by Victoriano Sosa. Had a Draw with an Ok fighter in Leonard Dorin. A record full of bums. And style completely copied from Pernell Whitaker.
