Comments Thread For: Singwancha Not Giving Up on His Name Use Request

Thailand’s Naris Singwancha hasn’t given up on his efforts to have several Filipino boxers whom he supports, carry the Singwancha name instead of their real family names.

Once again his request coursed through well known promoter/manager Aljoe Jaro following a luncheon meeting at the Twin Tower hotel in ****kok on Sunday to Boxrec.com’s Jeremy Lantz, chief boxing editor for the Philippines has been rejected.

In an email to Jaro and Singwancha as well as Games and Amusements Board Boxing Division chief Dr. Nasser Cruz with a copy furnished to this reporter, Lantz said “ I do understand the situation that you are requesting in regards to changing the names of Philippine boxers using the manager/promoters name Singwancha.

Why can't they just use the promoters/brands name as their nickname? In that fashion they retain their birth given names while representing their respective companies.

Also, the "confusion" of having so many similar names would seize since the only constant in the equation would be their nicknames.

Example: Milan "CP Freshmart" Melindo or even Milan "Metodico ng CP Freshmart" Melindo.

Or Donnie "Singawancha" Nietes/Donnie "Ahas ng Singwancha" Nietes.

In the second examples I incorporated their nicknames, in that manner they can retain their original nicknames(since they could hold a significant amount of sentimental value, in some cases) while fulfilling their promoters requisite to carry their brand's name.

disclaimer: Again, these were examples and both Milan Melindo and Donnie Nietes belong to ALA Promotions, not CP Freshmart nor Singwancha. They were used as mere examples in order to establish and clarify my points.

Seriously... in that manner Filipino fighters could both fulfill their duties by representing their Promoters and help Filipino boxing further establish themselves as a SEA boxing powerhouse.
