will depend on how he looks against Kirkland

If Ann Wolfe works her magic with Kirkland, and he comes in like the feared "Mandingo Warrior", yet Canelo is still able to stop him in the 7th/8th round (Kirkland is notiorious for starting slow, picking things up once he gets warm, and then mauling his opponents when things get into the 4th/5th rounds), I'd definitely be interested.

Showed skills in the Trout fight, boxed 12 with Mayweather, showed the variety of his attack against Angulo, and proved his ability against Lara. You add a thrilling "blood and guts" battle, against of battler who has wrecked fighters, and the clamor picks up again.

Alvarez would've shown that he's got really good talent, with an agression that has proven to have success against Mayweather, while still walking into said rematch with all the physical advantages (youth, size) that he had in the first fight and the experience of already seeing the man for twelve rounds.

Maybe if Mayweather is in a wheelchair, both hands tied to the chair, C-collar on while strapped to a Kendrick Extrication Device! Mayweather will probably still outbox him!

Canelo can go on to beat Lara, Kirkland, Cotto and Golovkin, no one will care about Mayweather vs Canelo II. Like Marquez destroying Pacquiao, beating Alvarado, and fighting to a Draw with Bradley(IMO), it didn't make Mayweather-Marquez II catch interest. No different with May-Canelo II.

Floyd was still boxing for the most part. The issue was that Canelo was doing the same instead of putting pressure on Floyd and effectively cutting off the ring. Canelo was trying to outbox a better boxer ..... it was not going to happen.
