Comments Thread For: Hopkins Explains Mayweather-Pacquiao Doubts For 5/2

Former two division world champion Bernard Hopkins is not holding his breath on a Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao mega-fight taking place on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather has two fights remaining as part of his exclusive contract with CBS/Showtime. That agreement guarantees Mayweather a very significant amount of money per fight. Some speculate that number is around $30-32 million dollars.

Hopkins believes Mayweather-Pacquiao will possibly happen in the future, after Floyd's contract expires with Showtime. As the days and the weeks continue to pass, so does the likelihood of the fight taking place on Cinco De Mayo weekend - according to Hopkins, who is far from alone in that opinion.

does'nt matter. pacquiao can't even sell in his own asian macau market. barely 300.000. and around half of them came from the U.S.none of that can fix his $75 million tax case in the philipines.

well if he wants to make more money, that would be one way. Cause if he makes this fight as a free agent, and use his promotion he would get a boatload of money and manny should go the Cotto route (leaving arum and starting his own mp promotions) then go back if he prefers. He could make enough to pay off all of his debts, make it a mayweather/ manny Pac promotions both fighters make out like bandits.

Yup, this fight will eventually happen because what I said many times, Floyd obsession with money. His compulsive spending habits. Floyd has a mental sickness, where he cannot stop spending money.

                He needs the Pac fight.

Also, I don't think Khan Floyd is a possibility despite what Haymon, and the rest say. Floyd lost interest real quick in fighting Khan, after Alexander got schooled. Khan would probably beat Floyd, so that fight could never happen.

Even Roger Mayweather implied Khan would be too much for Floyd right now.

Since any fight not Floyd Pac would need time to promote, it might mean Floyd Pac has to happen for a May 2 Floyd fight.

JR is Drugged by Money, he needs his fix, he can't turn down such a big fix that Pac brings, but his chickenheart just like yours is stopping him from making the fight.
