  • Comments Thread For: Rios Upset Alvarado Did Not Take Fight More Serious

Brandon Rios picked up a one-sided third round TKO of Mike Alvarado last month. They met for the third time after two memorable battles - this time in Alvarado's hometown of Denver. Alvarado had nothing to show in the fight. He barely threw any punches and took punishment until the fight was stopped after three rounds.

Alvarado's dedication was questioned after the boxer was arrested a few weeks prior to the fight, driving around at a very late hour with a firearm. After the fight, Alvarado admitted that he didn't train very seriously for the fight.

I think you have to give Brandon Rios a lot of credit. He looked in phenominal shape at 147 and has shown that he has brought his power up to 147 from the lightweight division where he was the best for years. Alot of people forget about that. Hes only had two losses, one which was revenged and has previously knocked out mike Alvarado. And the other is Manny pacquiao who has best legends like de la Hoya up just as bad as Rios got beat up. Note my signature. I think Rios can be a top welterweight and I look forward to seeing his next match. His interview with *************** are entertaining. He beat Alvarado to a pulp plain and simple would have done about the same to him at his best #war rios

2 losses ? So we goonna act like Abril didn't beat him up for 12 rounds?

Chaves wasn't ahead on the scorecards now at the time of the bull**** DQ?

Rios beat a ghost of a fighter, I'm not convinced. It should have been Chaves taking on Mike.

although i felt the alvarado was shot. Rios needs to step back with this backlash. alvarado made some personal mistakes and is paying a heavy price. anybody facing those kinds of charges absolutely can't be focused 100%.Rios just be glad you won, because had you lost.

Rios looked good, but to call him the best at that division is not right - he was matched up correctly to avoid certain types of fighters which is evident in his fight against Abril, since that fight he has been matched up against fighters with less movement - when he fought Alvarado the 2nd time it was evident and in his fight against Manny it's evident if you can move or use your legs you can beat him - it's just what it is. Alvarado would have made any fighter look like a world beater that night!
