Danny Garcia conquered the WBC Super Lightweight world championship on March 24, 2012 with a win over Erik Morales. Garcia made his last mandatory defense of his world title on September 14, 2013 with a win over Lucas Matthysse.

Garcia and mandatory challenger Viktor Postol registered a step-aside agreement with the WBC. In that agreement, Garcia and Postol agreed to each take a fight against a different opponent on the same card, and then fight in the mandatory championship contest immediately thereafter.

Matthysse, the current WBC Silver champion and number 2 contender, contacted the WBC and manifested his desire and intention to fight for the WBC world title again.

Garcia beats Postol in a close/controversial fight

Garcia vacates

Lucas fights a top 5 guy for the vacant belt

if garcia isn't willing to make weight for peterson why would he be willing to make weight for postol? if he does fight postol he has no intention of making weight since he's moving up anyway. this sounds like haymon trying to prevent matthysse from getting the belt. also why is garcia-peterson a 10 rounder? what a complete joke.

Garcia can't make weight anymore so he should just vacate it. Petersons belt was suppose to be Garcias after beating Matthysse.
