Nigel Benn defending his title by savagely ending the career of Gerald McClellan in London was a great victory for British boxing.

This one is up there for me too. There was something different about 80s fights like that one. The smaller, more intimate venues made for a cauldron of noise around the fighters. So much better than the half-empty arenas we get for so many tv fights these days.

I saw it live. Haven't watched it since, considering a man lost his livelihood, his sight and nearly his life for it. It's like watching Gabrial Ruelas-Jimmy Garcia or Ray Mancini-Duk Koo Kim.

                    Morbid, man.

That's a great point, man. A roaring crowd adds so much to the excitement. The only drawback I had was that it was a pro-Chacon crowd. So Bazooka's big moments did not get cheered much, but they should have. That guy was a real warrior as was Chacon. If every fight looked like that, everyone would love boxing.
