Right: Murray faced the shadow of Martinez. Martinez' knee was ruined in the Chavez Jr fight and the "big shot" doctors in Spain and Argentina "completed" the job. Last september, some New York specialists strongly advised Martinez to quit boxing for good.Comment

Based on previous opponents I wouldn't say there is much difference in Murray and Macklin. Fair enough Murray performed better against a battered old Martinez, but they're the same level. Wont be a better gauge of GGG.Comment

“I had a partially torn meniscus. I had a breakage in the femoral capsule, right behind the knee. I had a post-operation infection right before the [Martin] Murray fight. I had partially broken cartilage, where the cartilage became like a small saw on my tibia. I had an injury in my ligaments as well, a distension of the ligaments. I also had chondromalacia patellae, which is the injury that occurs beneath the kneecap.
If Murray had pressed Sergio early on, instead of practically giving away the first 4-5 rounds, I think he could have won clearly. But I suppose he wasn't to know. Didn't become apparent how weak Sergio was until Murray got his ass in gear in the middle rounds.Comment

This is his description of the knee problems:

Fact is Sergio never turned in a performance to give you any reason to think he had recovered from his injuries. He looked bad both times, it's just that Cotto took full advantage where Murray didn't.

... Then I was right...
... I've watched Martinez vs Murray live and immediately realised that "Maraviglia" doesn't move properly and suspected that his leg wasn't healed properly... I even posted here that he should have gone (in the first place) in the U.S. for surgery, recovery and physiotherapy...Comment
