It is not assuming... Who was the one that said about "cotto being hurt" as ya put it? Wasn't it mr yesterday I was lying today im telling the truth bob arum??? Sorry if I dont take his word for it. Also, cottos manager/adviser spoke on the matter as well and stated that they were getting ready to get back to him on tuesday, when he suddenly just walked away from negotiations. Thats not made up and they are not opinions as well. Those are facts. Deal with it

So you'd rather take the word of a guy who Cotto sleeps half naked in a bed with?

Again...What would be Arums motive to lie about what he says Cotto told him if Arum was promoting Cotto and stood to make a few mil off of this bout? Why would Arum burn a bridge by "lying" and ruin future paydays with Cotto?

because its not the first time hes done that... Its really not that hard. Arum's comments, or cotto's managers comments... who to believe? I dont really see a struggle in that question to come up with a logical answer

Well Cotto's manager has no choice but to protect Cotto's image. That's his job.

While Arum is no saint, I just cant muster a motive for him to create such an elaborate lie and ruin future paydays with Cotto if it weren't true.

But yeah, I think for the most part his fans are old washed up dudes much like Cotto himself. I don't necessarily think they're all Puerto Rican either. He's just like some sort of quiet, mysterious-underdog figure to them I think. These are the guys who really liked Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal. It's more about them actually not having father figures and male role models growing up and I'm sure most of them watched WWE well into their 30's. They probably try to live vicariously through him and can't even fathom that he's a middle weight champion. Just look at some of the Avi's and sigs around here. I mean, why else would they cheer him so hard and fault him for nothing? He HAS to be their father figure.

I really doubt it's simply because he's PR. I mean they're not related so it would be just because he's from the same part of the planet that they're from? Really?? That would be really ignorant and like a step backwards in our basic understanding of human biology/history/diversity. I sincerely hope it's not the case to be honest. If it is I pity them.

It may very well be that they're just simple minded flag waving patriots though. It's sad and scary if that's the case. They would really need to open a book at that point and understand that they are the last modern day colonized people in the western hemisphere. They still haven't gotten free either. That place is a conquered, welfare ridden-common wealth state and the US is holding on to it because they want to and know they won't to do anything about it. Worst part is they have no say in US politics. It sucks all around and I hope they find the strength to get free. They need to use those razors for something else other than their eyebrows man. Cotto is a good fighter but he's not your daddy. Get off of Boxingscene and shove that flag in Tio Sam's eye!

He lies all the time you're right, but he does it to benefit from the lie. How does this "lie" benefit him or Cotto?
