Comments Thread For: Zou Shiming Expects Very Tough Fight With Ruenroeng

Hong Kong - Double Olympic champion flyweight Zou Shiming has vowed to put China on the global boxing map by winning his first professional world title in Macau next month.

The 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medallist was a three-time world champion in a glorious amateur career, but he believes that if he beats the undefeated Thai Amnat Ruenroeng in March he would finally bring Chinese boxing to the world's attention.

"I swore to fulfil my dreams to become a professional fighter, to achieve world titles and to bring China into the worldwide boxing family," Zou told AFP in an interview in Los Angeles.

See this is a prime example of why there should only be one World Champion in each weight class. How can anyone other than Roman Gonzalez call themselves Flyweight Champion?

Gallo Estrada is a unified Flyweight World Champion, then you have Roman as the WBC and lineal world champion and Amnat Ruenroeng as the IBF World Champion. I really think all 3 fighters deserve said recognition.

Juan Francisco Estrada beat notable opponents in Brian Viloria, Giovanni Segura and Milan Melindo in order to acquire and defend his belts. He was at the weight before Roman and has a deeper resume at Flyweight then Gonzalez, deserves the recognition as champion.

Roman Gonzalez has one good win and one decent defense against Fuentes at Flyweight, although his resume doesn't look as deep in this particular division, the Akira win garnered him the praise and recognition he deserves at the weight class.

Amnat Ruenroeng defeated the same Rocky Fuentes that Chocolatito most recently fought, got a decision over highly praised Kazuto Ioka in his own backyard and defended at home against a tough Arroyo. Again, very deserving of the title.

Perhaps I would agree with you in other divisions, but Flyweight by far has the most deserving champions in the sport.

well I see ruenroeng outboxing shiming with his style... but ruenroeng has no power to really make an impact. The rounds will be considered "close", because ruenrong will have the cleaner shots, but shiming will have more volume and looks flashier, so most of the close rounds will go to shiming.

Zou doesn't have to worry that much. As long as he doesn't gets knockout or dropped a couple of times or look totally awful that it is obvious he had loss, Bob should have him covered.
