Sources with knowledge of the negotiations have advised BoxingScene.com that Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions and Artie Pelullo of Banner Promotions are very close to finalizing a deal for a junior welterweight explosion between Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34KOs) and Ruslan Provodnikov (24-3, 17KOs). The target date is March 28th, likely at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The majority of the important points have been agreed up on by both sides, who plan to meet later this week in Los Angeles to hopefully wrap things up.
