I am a Toney fan and wanted to see him win. I honestly thought it could have been scord either way. Toney did land a very high percentage, and Rahman did throw alot more and pressed the action. I do think that Rahman did not fight the smartest fight he could have. Although the HBO guys thought that the leaning in was smart for Rahman, I felt if he had stood back and fired even more jabs he woulda won a unanimous decision. Rahman's jab landed alot more than his other punches and Toney could only land consistantly on the inside.

I'm a huge Toney fan and it is unfathomable to score that fight for him. The rounds Rahman won were CLEARCUT rounds that Toney took off. Toney won 5-6 rounds decisively, and Rahman took the rest. There is no way you can score that fight for Toney. Punch stats are for commentators.

I didn't see the fight but, if Toney is such a great fighter and landed so many hard punches, why didn't he knock out Rachman? A counterpuncher will always have trouble winning a title fight. Winning the title is what it sounds like, taking the title away from the other man. Counterpunching to win a title is back asswards, unless he knocks the other guy out. It seems, for all his big mouth and bravado, he didn't have what it takes. He's just a small, fat, overblown middleweight....

because hes a natural middleweight...the fact that he was able to hang in there is impressive. you are correct that toney didnt have what it takes. it was a poor preformance

YES RAHMAN WAS THE BUSIER FIGHTER, HE THREW MOR EPUNCHES. WHO THE **** CARES ABOUT PUNCHES THROWN? ITS ABOUT WHO LANDS THE MORE EFFECTIVE PUNCHES.

DAMN TONEY LANDED SO CLEANLY ALL NIGHT LONG ON RAHMAN OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

THE HBO CREW IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE NOW WITHOUT JONES, HE WAS THE ONLY COMMENTATOR I LIKED, HE ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT HES LOOKING AT, AND KNOWS WHOS WINNING A DAMN FIGHT.

I HAVE NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR RAHMAN, BUT ALL HE DID WAS THROW AND THROW, HE DIDNT LAND MUCH AT ALL.

TONEY LANDED THE CLEANER MORE EFFECTIV EPUNCHES BY FAR.

I HAD IT 116-112 FOR JAMES TONEY.
Anyone that thought that was a championship fight is a ****ing idiot. Anyone that thinks ether one of those guys should hold their head up high is an idiot. Anyone that thinks Toney should be given a break because his fat ass didn't train hard enough for the fight is an idiot. Both of these guys are bums and that's why they didn't show this fight on pay-per-view. Can you imagine the number of people that would have been ****ing pissed of about spending $50 on that pile of this fight? I was upset that I thought it was gonna be a good fight lol. I feel a little dumber today as a result of watching that ****.

i think he also scored the tummble and look at the floor for wet spots.

agreed, but more like 115-113 for toney or rahman.. I think a draw was a good call.

I thought it was a pretty good fight, james still displayed some excellent counter skills which is always fun to watch.. and rahman threw a lot of punches something he normally doesn't do.

when a guy throws 300 more punches and doesn't get hurt or knocked down and landed more punches, including very effective jabs, how does he not win the fight? Rahman deserved that win.

Most of what you said was true, but I did see Rahman land a bunch of heavy shots. And remember the judges don't get to see the punch stats-- I think a draw was fair--
