Comments Thread For: Carl Froch is Expected To Vacate The IBF Crown

According to The Daily Mirror, super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) is going to vacate his IBF world title as early as tomorrow. Froch, who also holds the WBA's "regular" title at the weight, was ordered last year by the International Boxing Federation to fight mandatory challenger James DeGale.

Froch had until the end of January to reach a deal with DeGale. He has no interest in the fight and plans to sit out until a potential June fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who must first overcome Andrzej Fonfara on April 18.

Wait... so Dirrel actually got the #2 spot in an "eliminator" with Edwards? Dude was ranked like 13th.... so Ramirez is bumped down?

Total bs if you ask me.

Anyway, Dirrell is nobody in the U.S. Why the hell should they fight there?

Why is Froch called 'regular' champion when the WBA calls him Super Champion (i.e. unified champion)?

Not that it's important, just curious...

Apparently the DeGale-Dirrell fight will be announced this week. It'll be in the UK.

It makes no sense. I think they've confused it with the WBA.
