Comments Thread For: Amir Khan: Floyd Mayweather Jr. Situation is Crazy

British star Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs), like many other fighters, is sitting back and waiting patiently to see what Floyd Mayweather Jr. decides to do on May 2nd.

Khan has yet to book an opponent, or a return date, in order to keep himself available for a Mayweather opportunity. The same goes for WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, who is currently in deep negotiations to face Mayweather. Miguel Cotto is being mentioned as a possible Mayweather opponent.

Mayweather needs to retire for the sake of boxing.

He's making a mockery of the sport & is a disgrace.

A boring ducking coward that has fooled many.

Where have you been the last few months? Being with golden boy would actually help amir khan get fights with top rank fighters. The cold war between golden boy and top rank is over since shafer left. They already made the Mauricio Herrera Jose Benavidez Jr. Fight. Its going to be real interesting now that lemiux, mathysse, canelo, and Santa Cruz now have all those top rank fighters as possible opponents. Really good for boxing, now lets hope al haymon starts letting his fighters out of the cage a little bit and fight quality opponents from top rank and golden boy. Nobody wants to watch Danny Garcia fight rod salka. Just when you think hes doing a great thing and having Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson fight, he makes it a catch weight and non unification fight. It takes a lot of the prestige out of the fight. The fight means alot less now. Mayweather should retire and Danny Garcia should just vacate his belts because they're useless because he's not defending them.

I agree 100% and 2 other haymon fighters should vacate their belts like Peter quillen did. Danny Garcia because he's not defending his titles and having catch weight fights out of the lww weight class, and Adonis Stevenson because he is ducking the good fighters in his division. I can't wait to hear his excuse once kovalev is done beating Pascal.

Instead of talking who Khan is, why not talk about what he's saying?

Mayweather essentially locked up the schedule of no less than 10 top level boxers. It's a knock on effect, because the boxers he keeps in limbo have their own potential opponents who don't know what's going on either. Khan himself was out of action for many months waiting.

In this particular case, because this is Floyd vs Manny, I don't know how much of this is down to Mayweather and how much is down to HBO and Showtime coming to an agreement. But the pattern is there. Mayweather is not good for boxing. He robs us of other fights, slowing schedules of other fighters, and then all we get is a boring decision every time. Or a sucker punch stoppage, like with Ortiz...
