Comments Thread For: Mikkel Kessler Claims Retirement, No Comeback

Former WBA and WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler tells Ekstrabladet that he's now officially retired. Kesslerīs last fight was in May of 2013 when he lost the rematch to Carl Froch in London. He then took a long time to regroup but announced in May of last year he would fight again - but was only interested in the really big fights with no tuneups.

Mikkel Kessler was one of my favorite fighters. Loved his style, his heart, his honesty. A true gentleman. He was/is a Danish treasure and will be missed in the sport of boxing.
I'm glad he retired on his own terms.

No I'm happy about the decision and I have hoped for it since Froch II. Since neither Froch nor Ward wanted to fight him again, the decision was a given.

Hours before it was announced I sat with a mate explayning to him, why Kessler should retire based on the fact that the fights he wants aint gonna be the fights he gets.

Disappointed to her Kess hang 'em up. I was hoping he'd have one last fight and then call it day. Oh well, cong**** to Kessler on an exciting and successful career, hope he is happy in retirement

I guess now that Kessler's gone and Jermain Taylor has gone crazy, who is left to root for?

                    How bout Deontay Wilder?
