Comments Thread For: WBO Prez: Only Contracts Signal Mayweather-Pacquiao

WBO President Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel is not going to believe that a Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight is done until he actually sees signed contracts from both fighters. Pacquiao is the WBO's welterweight title. Talks for a fight with Mayweather are ongoing for a May 2nd date at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Reports of a deal being finalized have been disputed by everyone involved.

Something that's been bugging me I thought the WBO doesn't allow champs in 2 divisions wouldn't mayweather have to drop his light middleweight titles ( ala Sergio Martinez and aligeri) I know the WBC let it slide but the WBO seems by the book on this issue.

They are giving mayweather a free pass, the organizations make a special exception for mayweather, allowing him to fight whoever he wants, that's also a huge reason we haven't seen mayweather pacquiao, because mayweather is never forced to fight the toughest fights or his mandatories. He is a chump and needs to quit his b.s. And fight pacquiao

By the way this article mentioned Leonard and Duran and hacker and hearnes, those were probably two of the biggest fights ever and bob arum made all those fights happen. Don king had the top heavyweights and he screwed them out of lots of money, while bob arum and top rank had hagler, hearns, Duran, Chavez. Sr. And all the other top guys. He never ripped them off and was a saint compared to don king. Arum is all about developing stars and making the big fights. Look at Oscar, Floyd, pacquiao, cotto, Chavez Jr, and Marquez are all the biggest ppv fighters of our time and bob arum developed them all from rookie to ppv level. He also has been doing a great job with Terance Crawford, Tim Bradley, Mikey Garcia. Donaire, Walters, lomachenko, salido, Rios, Alvarado, Vargas, Benavidez, Ramirez, and a whole lot of the best talent in boxing. My point is bob arum wants this fight to happen so he can make a mountain of money and anyone who thinks arum would want to keep himself from making say 50 million dollars in one night is absolutely nuts #sign the contract #fightpavquiao

You type just to type. Chavez Sr. was a Don King fighter and also Don King made Duran/Leonard. Pacquioa was groomed by Murat Muhamed the 1st Marquez fight Manny wasn't signed to Top Rank.
