Toney may as well have weighed 160 pounds in that fight because he still punches like a middleweight. I would not say he staggered or hurt Rahman at any point in that fight. When you get hit with a flush punch your head gets snapped back and sometimes you have to take a step back but that does not mean you've been "staggered"; at least not by my definition. Rahman was never staggered tonight.
Who hits harder at heavyweight, Byrd or Toney???

Toney did land some shots that were obviously intended to take Rahman out, but I don;t recall ever seeing him visibly affected by anything Toney landed.Comment

Toney punches. Byrd just slaps.
He stopped a 114 year old Holyfield with accumulated punches...and went the distance with everyone else virtually doing nothing to reinforce his supposed punching power.
I'd say they are even. Lets go ahead and quit jocking the notion that Toney HAS EVER been a big puncher. He's far from it.

its not only that Toney's not a natural heavyweight, its also that he doesnt put his whole body into his punches, he was just throwing arm punches against RahmanComment

If I remember correctly, Rahman staggered off of Toney's counter overhand right in the early rounds.Comment

Byrd? I dunno. He slaps most of the time. If only that athleticism was paired with punches with average power.
Seriously, yeah probably they are even, but I never liked the way Byrd punches. He is in the ring just to avoid getting hit.Comment

** You teenyslobbers are a funny bunch. I told you Toney can't bust his way out of his KFC bucket. I hit harder than that fat tub of lard.
At any rate, Toney's been ducking Byrd's Detroit challenge for over 2 yrs now. Byrd would tattoo him at will all night long.Comment

Even though I havn't watched the fight between Rahman vs. Toney yet, I would say Byrd is the better boxer by far, and Toney is the better puncher as far as power goes, which isn't saying much because both fighters aren't big punchers. If Byrd and Toney fought, Byrd wins UD.Comment
