Comments Thread For: Rios-Alvarado III Generates More Than 1.2 Million Viewers

Brandon Rios resurrected his career while putting the proverbial nail in the coffin for Mike Alvarado, stopping his longtime friendly rival after three rounds of one-sided action in their January 24 rubber match at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

While the bout was an anti-climactic conclusion to their trilogy, the interest generated in their series was well reflected in the ratings. The welterweight clash averaged a healthy 1.252 million viewers in serving as the headliner for HBO’s 2015 boxing season. [Click Here To Read More]

Nice. Maybe last year's ratings will prove an anomaly rather than a trend.

The big fight may be with Bradley. Unless they go with the Ortiz fight as there is bad blood there with the whole Garcia thing. I have a feeling we'll see that next.

If Haymon lets him... most likely not, saving him for the Berto/Lopez winner

Another interesting thing about these numbers at the 1.3 mill peak, they are just about the same as the Wilder/Stiverne fight, and these were welters.

I beg to differ, although Alvarado didn't put up much of a fight, alot of that had to do with Rios pounding his face in with tenacious uppercuts, straight rights, and hooks. Rios hasn't looked that well conditioned since his lightweight days, every punch was disfiguring alvarados face. I truly believe Brandon Rios is a force to be reckoned with. Alvarado has a decent chin. He just went the distance with Marquez and even floored him after going down himself. Rios beat the crap out if him. Good win for Rios, I cant wait to see him back in the ring. He deserves a bigger fight after that beat down of alvarados.
