Chris Eubank looked like a bodybuilder, but he says he never lifted a weight in his life and hardly ever even did any push-ups either. I just don't understand it. It's even more weird that he had no muscle whatsoever in clips of his second pro fight at the Atlantis Hotel. So all that muscle just came from nowhere?

Mike Tyson claimed in 1987 that he didn't use weights, Roy Jones said in 2002 that he doesn't use weights and Jeff Lacy said a few months ago that he doesn't use weights. It's mind-boggling.

      It's called Genetics man.

Not that hard to understand such a simple concept.

But Eubank looked as if he had hardly any muscle at all against Ken Cannido, and he'd been training hard for years. He didn't even look like he had much muscle against Winston Burnett either, nothing compared to his bodybuilder physique against Simon Collins. And Eubank's physique got better and better until it hit its peak in the Benn rematch.

Boxers do a lot of work to build muscle though, like hittin the heavy bag, medicine ball stuff or natural weight stuff like pushups. I mean, just hitting people and fighting in close in sparring, putting your weight on another guy and pushing him off of you will make you stronger. The reason a lot of these guys look ripped is because their body fat percentage is insanely low. I'm about 180lbs and not at all overweight. If I lost 5 lbs of fat, I'd probably look pretty cut because I'm in reasonable shape. I mean, you can do 200 crunches a day and have insanely strong abs, but if you don't eat right there will always be a bit of a tire on top hiding them.

I wonder how many times JJ splattered talking about Eubanks muscles.

well because of family and career time restraints i no longer box anything but the cans and bottles of beer me and my girl drink- i hope in the future to get back into the gym and provide and assist others as a sparring partner. i can say this though when i was 15 and runnig cross country in high school i was 5'6 and weighed about 120-130 for fights and when i stopped boxing a little over a year ago @ 24 i was 5'8 and found that i had to basically starve myself to get below 160. when i was 19-21 i stopped boxing and lifted weights religiously and used andro and weight gainer ****. i blew up to 205 lbs real thick and strong with a fat face. when i got back into boxing i found it real had to keep weight down because of all the mass i had put on my shoulders and chest. while some of it came off from intense running it was damn hard to maintain that weight and i felt weak and malnourished even when training but i didnt want to be big since i'm only 5'8. also the weightlifting that i did on my arms never really went away and while i seem to be able to throw harder shots i def get tired faster. well now i walk around at about 185 with a beer gut and hit the bag after 8 or 9

Some of the biger more bulky fighters do in fact use weights.

Genetics or not when a fighter is in great physical shape its clearly visible. You dont have to be bulky to be strong, or powerful, but the fact that they are cut is always the same.

                      examples (cut without bulk):
