It's starting to piss me off now, all this super champion, interim, regular, 1 fight champion nonsense has to stop. It's just pathetic now. Most "champions" arent really champions tbh.
What is it with all these mythical titles?

4 belts is enough. I'm not a fan of the interim and regular belts and don't count them as proper world titles.
I don't think the 1 belt idea is all it's cracked up to be. I like there to be a consensus champion, but I also like that there's 4 sanctioning bodies with their own rankings and major championship, it broadens the scope of the sport allowing for a wider pool of talent to emerge. I like huge unification clashes and boxing would be worse off without them as they tend to be the biggest fights.Comment

The main problem with that is the fact that those rankings are extremely flawed.4 belts is enough. I'm not a fan of the interim and regular belts and don't count them as proper world titles.

Yes, it does broaden the scope of the sport but I don't really think it is particularly a good thing seeing as the structure in which a lot of these fighters are brought up is flawed (there are way too many belts at the sub world class level/Intercontinental level as well). Take a fighter like Ionut Dan Ion (known to most as Jojo Dan), for example, how is he getting a title shot after only fighting at a sub world class level? There are levels to boxing, he shouldn't be getting a title shot right away. Fighters should be working their way up each level imo.
I'm a big fan of unifications, but we hardly get them to the point whereby an undisputed champion is crowned. Fighter's have no incentive really, being called a "world champion" is enough for them to feel comfortable about themselves.Last edited by Pugilist95; 01-25-2015, 08:34 AM.Comment

Having three or four is fine but now it's getting to extremes. How can there be interim champions when the current champion is active and defending his belt? It makes no sense and confuses the average person more than it's worth.Comment

OP: You forgot the Diamond, Silver and other belts that the WBC just started giving out to the winners of a single fight ....
It makes no sense what-so-ever ... Unless the WBC is getting fees for those secondary titles\belts.Comment

I agree here. 3-4 belts per division (1 per sanctioning body) is fine by me, as long as unifications get ordered and take place.4 belts is enough. I'm not a fan of the interim and regular belts and don't count them as proper world titles.

1 champ/1 belt would give more clarity, especially to casuals and know-nothings, but I just think there's nothing cooler than seeing a guy become undisputed and collecting all the belts i.e. Hopkins
they need to quit with these diamond, silver, regular, international belts immediately though. guys can still have that status, but don't give them a belt for it. give them a certificate or something else lolComment
