The comment in this interview that caught my attention was the fact that Matthysse will fight in mid-March, but doesn't know who is opponent is yet. That is six weeks away. If he doesn't know who his opponent is six weeks from a fight, that means that he will not be fighting a major contender, but a journeyman who takes the fight on a couple of weeks notice.


He is free to sign with whoever he wants, but based on the fights that are being brought to us from Al Haymon, Matthysse may end up regretting the decision to leave Haymon and sign with GBP.

I thought they made that clear when it was said last week that they decided to stay with GBP because they're family.

Like I posted in that other thread, You have to respect Matthysse loyalty! It was plenty of fight as well as big Paydays for him with Haymon and it is plenty of fights for him with GBP. Of course likely won't get the Paydays he was getting with Haymon but regardless it will still be good Paydays!

GBP roster is not as bad as people think! If anything the Haymon split could be a BLESSING and it allows Oscar to go out and build some new stars which the sport REALLY NEEDS!

Let's be real. Lucas was smart not to have his money cut more by Haymon. Arano is is promoter as well, meaning he was taking a big cut.

there is only one problem with that. the whole gbp top rank ending the cold war that they went on and on about was nothing but pr aimed to try and make al haymon and richard shaefer look bad so that arum and oscar could pretend it was all there fault. cause they have yet to make a fight together not one. I could be wrong or forgot but i seriously cant think of one gbp top rank fight that has been made without a belt making them and besides canelo cotto they have not even realistically entertained one. ya they may not talk **** anymore but its obvious arum had no real intention to end the cold war besides maybe a ppv fight every couple years. But then again bob arum lying to the media to try and look good is nothing new. i thought from the beginning it was pr and they have yet to prove me wrong it was just a power play trying to keep gbp and tr in power which imo is not whats good for boxing

I think most haymon fighters are ****** for signing with him because he's really just an advisor who takes ten percent. So the boxer has to pay the promoter, the manager, the trainer, and also al haymon who has advised a lot of promising careers into the dumps like Danny Garcia, Adonis Stevenson, and Peter quillen to name a few
