Brandon Rios (33-2-1, 24 KOs) saw Saturday's victory over former WBO light welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-3, 23 KOs) as the best performance of his career. Before a hometown crowd at the 1st Bank Center, in Broomfield, Colorado - Alvarado was beat up and stopped within three one-sided rounds.

Rios pounded him to the body and head from the opening round and continued to batter him minute after minute until the ring doctor stopped the fight following the end of the third.

Good way to rebound from his Loss against Alvarado and pacquiao. Bob arum is going to get him another big payday fight. There are some good fights out there for him. Abregu is a top rank higher, is near the top ten wekterweights, and is an exciting fighter and beatable for Brandon. There are some good fighters in and around that division he could face. He didn't spend much time as a lightwelterweight and could fight alot of good fighters like provodnikov, Tim Bradley, Terance Crawford, Jose Benavidez, Mauricio Herrera. Lucas mathysse now that golden boy and top rank are in cahoots again. Anyone of those opponents would be a headline fight on hbo. By the way mayweather needs to step up and fight pacquiao and stop running! #sign the contract!

Rios looks good against washed up fighters at an all time low and useless against good ones like Pacquiao...he should be ashamed for saying that.

Even removing how messed up Alvarado is now, Rios did have extra life to him this fight. I commented in the rbr thread during the ring walk that his face looked really healthy for him; and that first round was his best round in a long time. I've been thinking that JMM as the next big fight that he might get but I also wouldn't mind seeing him show up like this in a rematch against Chaves. He didn't take many punches tonight so he should be able to get right back in there soon.

You have to give Rios alot of credit, regardless of how much Alvarado has in the tank, Rios was a beast tonight. He was on top of his game. That's the quickest I've ever seen him punch and move his feet. He was hitting Alvarado with crazy bombs all night and every one hurt Alvarado. I'm convinced those punches would give any welterweight alot of problems. I think Rios is back and better than ever and for once looks like he can compete with some top welterweights. He gives exciting fights and I cant wait to see him fight again. I think he is starting to care alot more about not getting hit now too, instead of volunteering to be a human punching bag like hes done in so many fights in the past. He pulled some real slick moves against Alvarado. Even Alvarado at his best I don't think would have a chance against this Brandon rios

He did look really good. Even with how spent Alvarado looked, Rios was def on fire tonight. Relentless with that inside attack, it literally folded Alvarado.

The way he was screaming "I'm BACK!" after KOing a brain damaged shot to **** meth head was cringeworthy.

Great to see Rios finally get the confidence boost he was longing for... but that's all it was. At this point Alvarado had nothing left, although Brandon did look extremely impressive at 147. I honestly think this is his best weight and this second breath he just caught might keep his career alive for a few more years.
