Good call. Ignore the knowlegeless **********s who worship Ali because the media tells them they have to. They are consumers and can't think for themselves.
Ali's style would work against him and his frustration ould turn into misery by round 4, and Toney would put an end to that misery in round 5.
Ali rarely had trouble with shorter guys. Only Frazier gave him trouble, and Frazier's non-stop aggression, left hook and good body shots were the reason. Toney could beat Ali on the inside if he could make him fight that way, but Ali rarely stood toe to toe with anyone. In his early years Ali's legs were so good that he could box from the outside for 15 rounds and not get tired, occasionally tying up inside if his opponent cut the ring off and trapped Ali on the ropes. He always did a little bit of clinching, but it didn't become very noticeable until he got well into his 30s. I doubt that James Toney could have beaten Ali at any point in the careers of either man, and in fact, it's doubtful that he could even win many rounds. Don't forget that Michael Nunn was way ahead on points when Toney caught him and knocked him out. Couldn't the bigger, stronger Ali have done the same but avoided getting hurt? I'm a James Toney fan, but as Clint Eastwood said in 1 of his old movies: "a man's got to know his limitations"

Toney at heavyweight is not a good mover. Ali has quicker hands, is much lighter on his feet, and has a greater reach. Ali would be moving the whole time, and Toney would be chasing after him, eating jabs and counter right hands.

I agree that Ali does seem like more myth than man sometimes the way people talk about him, he was not unbeatable. But aint no way Toney could beat him.
