Bam Bam Rios vs Juan M Marquez....

Preach.
The residual butthurt of KTFO6 burns eternal.
Funny thing is, it's the sore sphincters themselves that keep it alight.
One KO to rule them all.
Anyway, I didn't see the fight so I gotta ask: did Rios really look good last night or was it more that Alvarado is done? Cause I heard crazy things from my brother like Bam Bam was boxing. Actually trying to move his head and avoid getting hit, etc. Crazier still, he was having success with it.
So what's the deal? Are we seeing a new Bam Bam? Is he attempting a Barrera style transformation?Last edited by lefthook2daliva; 01-25-2015, 11:50 AM.Comment

To be honest with you I think it was a combination of Alvarado being mediocre/shot and Rios finally fighting at his natural weight. He looked faster, stringing together beautiful combinations up stairs and down and his motor was on overdrive during the entire 3 rounds. He's always been able to block and slip a few punches here and there so I wouldn't say he's morphing into a boxer puncher/defensive - tactician at all, but I do believe his new weight class brought him some extra breathing room and the speed to unload flashier combinations.Preach.

It could be all that or just the fact that Alvarado was completely out of it
One more fight at 147 and we will see what's really going on with Rios.

Thanks for the analysis. Will look forward to checking it out when I get a chance and will be interested to see how Rios fares going forward at a weight that he's maybe best suited to.To be honest with you I think it was a combination of Alvarado being mediocre/shot and Rios finally fighting at his natural weight. I was thinking he was starting to look shopworn and punchy, but maybe not...?
WAR Bam Bam!

That winner fights the Algieri-Crawford winner @140.
Rios should stop Ortiz first and then it depends on what Bob wants to do with him. Arum can feed him to Bradley knowing he would lose a close decision, or he can keep building Rios a little more for an even bigger fight down the line.Comment

Yeah, Dinamita's knee is a cause for concern, but as long as the Marquez that beat Alvarado is the one that fights Rios then it'd be a massacre. I think it'd be a fun fight in stretches, but ultimately Marquez would leave Rios a bloody mess. There's only two reasons why I think Marquez could lose the fight...(and me being a massive Rios fan isn't one of them,
)
1) His age.
2) His recent problems with his knee.
If Marquez can step in the ring in good condition, he schools Rios and bashes his head in with his signature counter right hand. However I think Rios is in his optimal weight class, his stamina has always been incredible but this past performance was just the perfect blend of everything that makes great brawlers.
Could you imagine the uppercut shoot outs we would witness? That would be FOTY, or a candidate at least. Doubt it happens though, the legend is on his way out and Brandon just had the massive confidence booster he was looking for since his back to back losses.
at the forum though, Rios goes from bum to unstoppable within seconds on here.
If Marquez isn't up to par with at least his Alvarado performance then the fight might be a bit more even. I'd still bet on Marquez figuring out a way to win though.Comment
