He hasn't ever cheated, never been accused of cheating before now, there's absolutely no proof he's done anything, he's never done anything wrong, yet everyone from ESPN to CNN has spent the last week vilifying him, saying he should be suspended, and the fans all love it and buy into it. Why? Because people can't stand Tom Brady and want to see him go down.

A hell of a lot more people care about and hate on Tom Brady than Floyd Mayweather just based on the sports they're involved with. There are more Jets fans alone that hate Tom Brady than Floyd Mayweather has probably sold PPVs in his entire career.

White athletes are probably left with few fans after their 25th woman beating accusation. Different cultures hold people to different standards. You would probably have to go back to the 1920s to find a white example, when racism and chauvinism and everything were still parts of white society. Jack Dempsey was allegedly involved in prostitution rings but still a superstar.

Decades from now when some social progress is made I doubt black people will still like the Floyd archetype, but for now he's the coolest.

Of course, unsavory members of other ethnic groups also idolize him. I imagine he has lots of fans in trailer park type environments.
