  • When should a boxer retire?

What are the events that take place with a fighter that call for retirement?

I was thinking about Ali. It's very sad. Very dark.

I guess its like any other profession, you retire when you cant do it anymore or when you have enough money so you dont need to do it anymore.. Some stick around cause they dont know what else to do.

When he reaches a point where he's scared to fight others. Lennox Lewis laid out a perfect blueprint for Floyd Mayweather.

Yeah thats when you should retire as a sportsman but as a business man you can still go on prizefighting, sadly...

Depends, if a fighter has enough money to retire (than maybe consider), if a fighter is in danger of permanent injuries (bad eyes, blood on brain, peeing blood or concussions), the fighter loses his hunger (Tyson at the end) or if there is nothing left to prove as a fighter.
If your trainer, manager or promoter tells you to hang them up (since these 3 make money off you this is a good indicator, Ali's trainer stayed till the end)
Those are the best I could think of.

When you realize you can't pull the trigger like you used to. All older fighters say the same thing. They see the shot, they know the shot, but they just can't let off the punch they way they used to.

When he's afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao ( Floyd only ) other than that when A fighter is taking to much punishment or talks like James Toney or Roger Mayweather

Juanma is a good example. Dude should have retired multiple fights ago.
