The fools here will beitch that there are no fights being made and then when a fight is made, with a catch weight, they will ***** about that too.

As long as men are fighting each other in the ring there should be nothing to beitch about.

I fully agree with rip chudd that catchweights should be barred from title fights though.

So then the fools disgrace the sports history and those who made history.

I just learned here on the Scene that Muhamad Ali was actually just a large punching bag.

And that Emanual Steward was the guy to see if your fighter needed to learn how to clinch.

    smh

      Neither were catchweights.
I tend to agree but I do not like that for title shots cause accolades exchange hands outside the officials rules.

IMO if you want to fight for a title in a division then don't try to make up new barometers for that division. Either fight the champ at the limit or don't fight in the division if you can't hack it.
      I agree.

They never were that big of a deal as it was after Pacquaio did it to cotto all the pacquaio haters (who tended to be mayweather fans) had a field day with it and since then it been a big deal and then when Mayweather did it too canelo that people who always talked down on catchweights calmed their shit down and now its mainly those two fan base who make it a big deal but it only out of hate for eachother.

at least thats how I see it.

I care and I remember which fights were catchweight. If I care I think other fans might also care. If no world title is at stake I have no problem with any catch weight the two fighters agree to. It's when the weight limit for title fights is changed that I hate catch weight fights. It can change history and it's not right. If a fighter can't fight for a title at the full weight limit of that division then stay in your own weight class. Pacquiao-Cotto at 145 instead of 147. Pacquiao-Margarito at 150 instead of 154. Cotto-Margarito at 153 instead of 154. Mayweather-Canelo at 152 instead of 154. Martinez-Williams at 157 instead of 160. Cotto-Martinez at 159 instead of 160. All world title fights fought at a damn catch weight. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I am thinking we will see Mayweather insist that Cotto defend his middleweight title against him at a top weight of 155. Cotto will be happy to do it for the big payday since he can easily make that weight. Then Mayweather will probably win the lineal world middleweight title but he sure as hell won't be the best middleweight in the world any more than Cotto was. Catch weight fights are fine. Catchweight fights for world titles stink in my opinion and I always remember the catch weight those fights were fought at.

They were both contracted weights , thats the official term Catch weight is the laymen's term .

If your fighting in a division for a very long time and you fight somebody in a lower division and its contracted that you must be below a weight its a CW .

Another example , a big fight is set between 2 great fighters a JWW and JMW and they contractually agree to meet in the middle at WW , its a CW .

Its really about how the contract is written , CW is a meeting of 2 fighters from different divisions .

I'm fine with catchweight, as long you are fighting in the limits of a certain weight class.
