Jermain Taylor has turned himself in to the authorities in Pulaski County, Ark., where he has been booked in jail Wednesday afternoon.
The reigning middleweight champion was arraigned Tuesday morning on charges of aggravated assault, battery, possession of marijuana, and endangering the welfare of a minor stemming from his crazed outburst during a parade Monday in Little Rock, held in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The judge didn’t show any leniency towards his celebrity status, setting his bail at $50,000.
However, Taylor’s freedom didn’t last very long; the crimes stemming from Monday’s arrest were a violation of the conditions of his bond held from separate charges last August. The boxer is due to stand trial in June on charges stemming from shooting his own cousin after asking him to leave his home last summer.
Because Taylor was out on bail, any criminal charge committed between then and hearing would be considered grounds for bond revocation. [Click Here To Read More]
