Comments Thread For: Harry Simon Positive For Steroid Use In Sept. '13 Fight

Former 154- and 160-pound titleholder Harry Simon tested positive for steroids in his last fight, which took place in September 2013, though the positive test is only now coming to light via Namibia newspaper The New Era.

The report said it did not know which steroid Simon tested positive for. It also cited anonymous sources who said a hearing had already taken place and Simon admitted using the banned substance.

Simon seemed to indicate otherwise when contacted by the newspaper:

“I don’t know what you are talking about and even up to now, nothing has been communicated to me yet, either from the boxing federation or the Olympic committee. You can even call the boxing federation and ask. Why should this only crop up now when the fight already took place more than a year ago?” he was reported as saying. [Click Here To Read More]

For those that don't know, Harry Simon actually lost to Winky Wright too.

Dan told us the story a few times at the gym. They won on the cards, went back to the locker room and the fans at the stadium started to riot. The rioting prompted the officials to go to the locker room and tell Dan and Wink that there was a mistake.

They pulled them out of the locker room and changed the decision to calm down the rioting.

^^There's a vid of it here, although the broadcast ends with Winky as the winner, incredibly harsh to do that to a guy especially one as good as Wright was.

Simon was a top fighter though IMO, it's a shame he went so off the rails.

Ya that was such a farce, winky has had some bad luck in decisions. Saw this guy live over a decade ago, can't believe he's still undefeated.

hey how can you believe someone doesn't know Harry Simon ? Only CASUAL FANS don't know him. Anyway as i was a Winky fan as i have to say Simon won the fight. Dan obviously said the contrary and it's true that the scorecards was a shame about the mistake. Harry Simon was a monster, relentless and he could take a hell of a punishment, his nickname was TERMINATOR and it was very appropriate.
