Comments Thread For: DiBella: We're Very Concerned Over Taylor's Mental State

It has been reported earlier that middleweight titlist Jermain Taylor was detained and questioned for discharging a firearm in Little Rock, Arkansas on Monday afternoon.

There is even disturbing video of Taylor dancing at an event celebrating the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday before law enforcement placed him in custody.

Because of Taylor's latest run-in with the law, along with him being on probation for shooting his cousin last year, the 36-year-old will likely face more charges.

Promoter Lou DiBella confirmed to Boxingscene.com the February 6 IBF world middleweight title fight between Taylor and Sergio Mora is now off. The bout was slated to headline on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights from the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.

"This is very disturbing to me and his management (which includes Al Haymon)," DiBella told Boxingscene.com over the phone. "We're very concerned over his mental state and his health. His boxing career is a distant second right now and he has to deal with these ramifications." [Click Here To Read More]

So why's Lou keep putting him in fights? Haymon has a history with Lamon Brewster of faking medical records to get a fighter approved for a fight. Taylor's behavior was concerning years ago when he had a public altercation with his mother. Jermaine was a good man who seemed to be a fairly intelligent individual and has clearly digressed over the years in the same fashion as some famous NFL and NHL players. Now DiBella says something like this after he knows there's no way for this guy to fight again? Fuck you Lou.

East coast I honestly think that the Abraham KO loss was the icing of the cake. Taylor was so level headed and had a good heart but too many KO losses cause brain damage and he's a shell of himself.

In boxing we use the term that a boxer is "shot", well my friends Jermaine Taylor the person is "shot"

More like he is worried he won't be able to milk any cash from Jermaine and the middleweight title he recently won

I'm sure Al Haymon will bail out and sign Jermain soon...

I'm more concerned over Floyd's mental state... I mean $120 million to fight a 5'6 blown up featherweight.. and he's uncertain about drawing up a contract..

You're right, Pac doesn't deserve to be called a true WW, he should come clean and move back down to where he belongs, and the WBO should strip him of that WW belt he doesn't deserve.

You didn't mention that Floyd started out at Super Feather, that's because he hasn't blown himself up like Pac pathetically did and therefore Floyd is a proper WW.

So it's obvious that Floyd is the true king of the WW division and he shouldn't stoop to fight the undeserving Pac, I agree!
